Ever wonder how to manifest the life you want? In recent years, there’s been a lot of talk about something called manifestation. Perhaps you’ve heard about from a friend or read about it in books like The Secret, though that book misses the mark on a lot of things. Whatever it is, you’re intrigued and curious about whether its purported powers are real.
The answer to that question is a big, resounding yes. A similar concept, known as the law of attraction, works wonders for people when applied correctly, but therein lies the catch: you have to work it the right way if you want to reap its benefits.
Almost every one of us has some part of our life that we wish could be better; it’s a natural human urge. Nowadays, especially in our success-driven culture, the desire to do more and be more is nearly palpable, and quite frankly, crushing at times. The key, like anything else, is to strike the right balance. While it’s a great instinct to want to improve certain aspects of your life, the trick is knowing how.
Enter manifestation. Manifestation is the idea that you can conjure good things like success, health, and love in your life by envisioning it and taking steps to realize it. But don’t write it off as woo-woo, glorified daydreaming yet; we have a few tips to offer on how you can manifest the life you’ve always wanted.
Specify Your Goals
Have you ever made New Year’s resolutions? If you’re in the vast majority of the population, chances are you have.
Think about these lists you’ve made over the years and the resolutions on them.
- How did you word them?
- Were your resolutions pretty general, or were they worded carefully?
- How many of them did you achieve in the end?
- Which ones did you feel overwhelmed by?
The vaguer and more aimless the resolution was, the more likely it is you dropped it. On the other hand, the more specific your goals were, the less likely you were to abandon them.
The same goes for manifesting your dreams: the more specific you are about what it is you want to achieve, the more manageable and doable it becomes.
What’s Your ‘Why’?
Everyone has a "why" for what they do, right down to getting out of bed in the morning. Of course, you’ll need to familiarize yourself a little better with your whys before setting out on your manifestation journey.
Let’s say you have an ultimate goal of running 15 miles every week. That is a great, specific goal, but achieving it won’t mean much to you if you don’t know your underlying purpose for doing so.
Do you want to get in better shape so you can live longer? Do you want to improve your health so you can set a better example for your kids?
Getting to the heart of your "why" will be crucial for keeping you grounded and continuing to motivate yourself throughout your long journey ahead.
Say Goodbye to Low Vibrations
If you’ve read about manifestation before, you’ve probably heard of the concept of vibrations. If you’re vibrating at a low frequency, it means you’re operating in a pretty negative headspace, and your lifestyle and actions reflect that.
Those vibrating at a higher frequency are more in tune with their passions and purpose in life, and you can see the positivity they bring to all of their interactions. If you want to achieve what you set out to do, you’re going to have to align yourself in a way that elevates your frequency.
It’s almost impossible to reach your goals when you’re feeling cynical and spreading negativity to those around you. It in both directions when it comes to the frequency you vibrate at, so why not try to uplift yourself and others? You’ll receive the benefits in return.
Remember, all feelings or emotions in the body are just vibrations. Pay attention to how those things actually feel in your body, and you'll be more in tune with everything else.
Your Body is a Temple
Your body is a temple to the Lord:
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." – 1 Corinthians 16:19-20
Speaking of mindsets, yours is very much influenced by the things you put into your body, be it food, booze, or drugs.
You can improve your mood and general outlook on life by nourishing your body the way it needs to be fed, which includes drinking plenty of water, eating a food protocol that energizes you, and getting regular, moderate exercise.
It’s okay to have fun now and then and drink some alcohol, but too much too quickly will drag both your mental and physical health back down. It might seem like a lot to try to keep up with your physical health while also trying to achieve some of your bigger goals.
However, you’ll discover that making your physical health a priority will, in turn, make your bigger goals seem a lot more achievable—all you have to do is try.
Daily Affirmations Matter
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? The way you answer this question can be pretty telling about how serious you are about achieving your goals. If you prefer scrolling through Facebook to a few minutes of quiet meditation, we have to wonder about how much your dreams matter to you.
Starting your day without your phone can be incredibly grounding, and also gives you a chance to recenter and remind yourself of what it is you’re going after.
We recommend listing three things you are grateful for and three small steps you’re going to take today that will help bring you closer to reaching your ultimate goals.
Once you start doing this consistently, you’ll quickly begin to reap its calming benefits.

Be Open to Feedback
In our culture, we admire people who remain singularly focused on their goals, sometimes even to the point of exhaustion.
However, this ideal is pretty unhealthy when you think about it; who wants to be the kind of person who’s oblivious to their surroundings? Pursuing your goals does not mean you have to shut out the people around you.
In reality, you’ll need to do the opposite: listen to the feedback of the people around to figure out what you’re doing right and what you ought to change, but make sure that whatever you decide to do is because YOU WANT TO, not because others have told you to. Pay attention to how you feel about any advice you receive.
Listening to feedback from others, but also from yourself, helps align you to your goals. If you ask for a sign and one appears, listen to it!
We saved the most critical piece of information for last. All of the tips we’ve mentioned here are useless if you don’t put them into practice.
The only way manifestation works is if you take daily, consistent actions to realize your goals. Anyone can sit on the couch and daydream all day with their eyes shut; envisioning is the natural part.
The hard part is figuring out the path to get from Point A to Point B.
