Episode 148: Jessie’s First Year in College

June 14, 2022

Jessie shares lessons learned from her first year in college. With T1D, college can feel extra stressful and overwhelming, especially if you've never been on your own before.

Jessie uses this episode to set herself up for success in the years going forward, by recording what worked / what she liked, what didn't work, and what she plans to do differently.

This is something I wish I'd done when I was Jessie's age. Having a record of what she liked and didn't like about Year One means she's that much more prepared to enjoy the rest of her college career with less stress.

Wins & Fails

Colleen's Win: As of this recording, I've made it through 22 of 52 hikes planned in 2022! I've gotten a pretty good handle on my BGs up to 2 hours.

Jessie's Fail: She's trying to find a new endocrinologist in her college town.

Tip of the Week

Make note of the things you want to change about your college experience for next year so that you don’t forget about them.

Jessie shares lessons learned from her first year in college both from a life perspective and a type 1 diabetes perspective.

Question for You!

What are some of the lessons you learned from moving? If you are in college what lessons are you learning?
