You need not be the brashest and most outgoing person to get things done, but you need to have that element of self-belief to get through most days, weeks and months.

Those low on self-confidence know exactly what it’s like to stumble through life looking over their shoulder and not wanting to take part in much of what this existence has to offer—it’s not the best situation.

Are you feeling a little down in the dumps with how you feel about yourself? Do you think that you’re not as talented at stuff as you’d like to be? Do you often feel pessimistic and negative regarding life and feel as though you’ll never get what you want out of it?

Well, you’re probably suffering from a lack of confidence and self-belief. This is not abnormal, so nothing wrong with you for feeling this way. Self-confidence is a skill to build over time—you’re not born with it. 

With that said, there here are three things you can do to build self-confidence and maybe even re-invent yourself. 

Recognize That EVERYONE Has Confidence Issues 

You’re not the only person on the planet who needs to build some self-confidence.

Even those at the very peak of the powers will have a little drop-off from time to time. Imposter syndrome is real, but not the end of the world. Even the most self-assured people on the planet have issues with wondering if they deserve to be where they are.

Once you realize that you’re not on your own and that everyone has flaws, then you can get a fresh perspective on things. 

Build Self-Confidence by Doing What You Enjoy!

The best way to build self-confidence is to do things that make you happy.

When you focus on thoughts that cause happiness, you'll reap the benefits of those positive feelings.

The more you think positive things about your circumstances, the better you'll feel, and that will drive the actions you take to be in line with what you really want... And it perpetuates a cycle of positivity. 

When you take the time to do what you enjoy, you'll become better at it. As your skill set improves, you’ll feel a lot more confident about taking part in it. When we’re good at something, our self-belief rises. And when you're good at something, you tend not to care what others think about your ability.

Do what you enjoy to build your self-confidence and build your self-confidence by doing what you enjoy. It's a bit like the chicken-and-the-egg!

Stop Comparing Yourself To Others

This is a toxic trait that every human has. We’ve all done it at least once in our lives. We look at someone and think, "how do I measure up to them?"

What you should do is ignore them and focus on yourself.

This is YOUR life, not "Your Life: The Movie" for other people to judge. Social media is powerful and connecting, but it’s also a place where people become obsessed with the curated feeds of others and compare and despair. Do your best not to get sucked into the fake personas and fake lives on your phone or computer screen.

I asked a few Facebook groups to give examples of how comparison can be useful, and the vast majority responded that comparing yourself with yourself is the best way to go.

Use comparison as a motivation to build your self-confidence, not to tear it down.
